The Univ. of Arizona FTP site (including the Icon distribution archives)
have moved to a new machine, ftp.cs.arizona.edu. Previously,
cs.arizona.edu and ftp.cs.arizona.edu were the same machine.
There is a Linux binary distribution available at
ftp.cs.arizona.edu:/icon/binaries/unix/linux-icon.tar.{Z,gz}.
The README file in that directory says
=========================================================================
README file for /icon/binaries/unix
This directory contains executable binaries of version 9.1 of Icon in
the form of "Unix Starter Kits" containing everything you need to get
started with Icon. Each kit contains executables of the Icon translator
and interpreter, the interface builder, documentation in PostScript form,
and the library procedures referenced in the documentation. The Icon
compiler, for specialized needs, is no longer included in binary packages.
Each kit is available as a compressed (.Z) or gzipped (.gz) tar file.
Kits are available for the following platforms:
Digital Unix (OSF) 3.2
Hewlett-Packard HP-UX 9.01
IBM AIX 3.2
Linux 1.3.30 (Slackware 2.3.0)
Silicon Graphics IRIX 5.2
Sun Solaris 2.3
Sun SunOS 4.1.1
Unpacking the tar file creates a directory named "icon.9.1". The README
in that directory gives subsequent directions. All that's needed is to
run a simple setup script and set some environment variables, and you'll
be ready to run Icon programs.
